With huge amounts of warm, soft and fleshy red berry flavours from the Grenache and a nice lift and bite from the woody notes provided the Syrah, this is a little more accessible than the more expensive offerings from Singla and the perfect wine to enjoy by the fire on a cosy carefree winter's evening. Unusually, the two grape varieties are macerated and vinified together, rather than blended after the event, bringing a unique sense of harmony to the wine.

An intense blend of Syrah and Grenache Noir, Rouge aux Lèvres offers a sensual range of flavours from cherry to liquorice to chocolate. The texture is fleshy, with real weight, presence and life. It will benefit from decanting, especially when young.

With a touch of oak and 6 months on its lees, this is a white wine with presence, but delicate too, with lively floral notes, alongside citrus and caramel. A blend you don't often find in the UK and a wine well worth discovering.

Laurent De Besombes' 100% Syrah is a unique expression from this part of France - aged in both oak and acacia wood, and displaying a balance of acidity and flavour unusual for a wine hailing from this far south. An intense nose of berries, plum, olives and spice give way to a full body of wood, smoke and even a subtle note of sea spray. A lovely, long finish - consider decanting if young.

Les Amants' showcase for the strong, gutsy Mourvèdre variety - softened a little by a splash of Grenache. Its characteristic gamey, earthy qualities are here quite polished, with a wine of impressive style and minerality. Red fruits, white pepper, vanilla and cocoa all make a showing. We recommend decanting.
