The climate here in Friuli, which tends to favour slow ripening, may not bear much resemblance to the classic Reisling territories of Germany and Alsace - but the result, as with many of Giorgio Badin's wines, is a very pleasant surprise indeed. The Reisling here is harvested late, creating a full wine which holds a beautifully crisp acidity, lemony notes and a herbacious complexity.

With all the herby, savoury aromatics you'd expect from Sauvignon Blanc, and more, this is another example of Giorgio Badin taking a grape we know and love and adding his own, very welcome, twist. With pronounced notes of freshly-cut grass and thyme, this is a crisp refreshing wine that packs a punch when it comes to flavour, and is a serious cut above the diluted styles of Sauvignon its all too easy to pick up in the UK these days.

It's Pinot Grigio - but not as you may usually know it... From a single-vineyard, Sot Lis Rivis, and barrel-fermented in oak, this is a fine, gutsy wine with a sophisticated creamy, toasty edge and a notable herby character. The rich, nutty palate has a full texture and good concentration, with well-integrated oak. Superb.

Malvasia Istriana is an ancient variety from the Mediterranean that came to Friuli through Venice in the 16th Century. This wine has good acidity, a spectrum of aromas from tropical fruits to anise to spices, and an impressive finish.

Deep yellow colour. Distinctly herby, straw tinged nose leads to a rich, herby palate with a lovely nutty texture. Pure, clean fruit flavours here in a restrained style.
