Manni Nossing’s Kerner represents a virtuoso performance, squeezing ripe, fleshy lychee and pink grapefruit flavours out of an often overlooked, and, it seems, underrated grape variety.

Sylvaner is the most important grape variety produced here in the Isarco Valley, and much of it can be either brash and blowsy or just plain uninteresting. Manni’s interpretation, however, is real class. Full and clean with earthy, floral, honeyed tones, this works beautifully as a tastebud-catching aperitif, or a match for lightly spiced dishes.
