Baron Di Pauli has taken this humble and delightful grape and given it the royal treatment – this is single vineyard Vernatsch, selected by hand from fifty year-old vines, and with yields kept at microscopic levels. A lively wine for summer drinking, it is characterised by delicate, bright red berry flavours and an elegant backbone.

Stroblhof’s Chardonnay vineyards lie close to the village of Appiano. The wine is fermented in barrique and allowed to mature for a period of nine months, developing delicate aromas of apricot and vanilla, well-balanced acidity, and a lively body.

An unusual blend for the Langhe hills. Juicy, dark berry fruits and a soft mouthfeel, coupled with a stylish edge that runs throughout the range from this estate make this easy-drinking wine an excellent way of getting real quality across the full range of any list.

This wine suggests balance from the start – its name, Greek for ‘putting together’, is an apt description for this careful blend of these most expressive of grape varieties.

Stroblhof use their vineyards at Caldaro, closer to the tempering influence of the lake, for growing their Sauvignon Blanc grapes, and this shines through in a delicate minerality running through the wine.

From the hills overlooking the grander names of the Cote de Nuits, Bertagna's Haute wines have real energy to them - offering classic pinot flavours expressed through the interplay of subtle yet rich and spicy red fruit, a strong, elegant structure and a persistent, satisfying finish.

An unusual blend for the region, the chocolatey, leathery Petit Verdot works nicely alongside the rich, plummy Aglianico, with both having 14 months in barrique to get to know each other. This is a serious wine, and with some patience, the result is a harmonious blend of high fruit notes, rich heady flavours and a herbaceaous character that brings it all down to earth. 

A subtle expression of Tinto Fino, this is a graceful red with soft, fleshy tannins, lifted by violet and cherry notes. 14 months in oak adds a smoky, creamy edge.

It may be named after an unfortunate accident that befell the family dog, but, thankfully, there’s nothing unfortunate about this IGT. Beautifully rounded, lively, and complex with colourful christmas-candied fruit notes resting their haunches on a bed of smoke and damsons.
