A superb value red wine, typical of the generous Abruzzo region. An intense red colour, with ruby reflections. A good balance of spice, leather red fruits sit alongside a full, savoury texture and soft tannins.

Classic Monastrell (Mourvedre, in the French...), very nicely balanced for the price tag. Rich, dark, earthy fruits and pepper, with some high floral, rose petal notes. 

Kurtatsch, at the far southern end of Alto Adige, is rich in warm soils on which both types of Cabernet can ripen very well before being blended into this Cabernet. The Cabernet Sauvignon provides the elegant red fruit and cassis, while the Cabernet Franc is the source of piquant, vigorous spices.

This is what the Fabbri family have been drinking at home since the 1780s. Essentially our ‘house’ red, Savignola Paolina’s Rosso is Sangiovese in a sunny mood – medium in body but with enough gusto to hold its own against most meat dishes.

Made by a co-operative up in the hills of Campania, this is a rich, soft red with splashes of red fruit, tobacco and black pepper and a long, spicy finish.

A young, modern unoaked Rioja with lush, fresh red berry notes alongside typical gamey, dark stone fruit flavours. An approachable wine with a real edge to it.

A charming red - medium-bodied with a lovely concentration of fresh raspberry fruit and a soft, satisfying finish.

Showcasing the sweet fruit flavours of the primitivo grape, another one very much at home in this heat, Jema is a wine of some weight, creamy and rich, balancing high fruit notes with a herby, vegetal character.

Made biodynamically from low-yield Tempranillo, this is simply bursting with a rich blend of floral notes, spice, berry and black olive. Dark and delicious, but still surprisingly fresh and bright.
