The Cortese grapes that go into Pisé are selected by hand from some of the oldest vines on the estate before the wine is left on its lees for six months, developing ripe fruit, honey and bread crust flavours and an attractive weight on the palate.

This red from Paleine has been macerated for 21 days and gives a rich bouquet of raspberry, stone fruit and herbs with elegance and structure on the palate. Ideal with any meat or cheese, and will keep for up to five years.

Domaine de la Paleine's Scherzo shows off the smooth, dry side of Chenin Blanc from the Loire Valley. Full, yet subtle flavours of crisp white fruit and a good structure. ldeal for apéritif or any fish dishes.

We have great pleasure in being the first merchant in the UK to bring over the newest appellation in France - AOC Puy-Notre-Dame. With longer maceration and lower yields than the Saumur appellation, this is a concentrated yet delightfully soft and supple expression of Cabernet Franc, showing classic flavours of raspberry and black pepper.  

A crisp, refreshing, apéritif-style wine, Huber's Aligoté has a structure and substance often lacking in this, white Burgundy's often overlooked second grape variety. Lots of minerality, with a layer of citrus alongside some interesting notes of cucumber, starfruit and melon - even a little nutty flavour on the impressive finish. 

Domaine de la Paleine made the most of the excellent 2005 vintage with this full expression of chenin blanc that manages to keep a surprising balance between powerful fruit and good acidity. Notes of honey, orange blossom, spice and almonds suit any aperitif, or in particular food with a bit of spice to it.  

Baron Di Pauli has taken this humble and delightful grape and given it the royal treatment – this is single vineyard Vernatsch, selected by hand from fifty year-old vines, and with yields kept at microscopic levels. A lively wine for summer drinking, it is characterised by delicate, bright red berry flavours and an elegant backbone.

A charming, delicate expression of white Burgundy: subtle flavours of vanilla and ripe fruits, a touch of oak, a little creamy in the mouth. Well-integrated and with great presence for a wine of this delicacy, the finish is long and evolves nicely. 

The climate here in Friuli, which tends to favour slow ripening, may not bear much resemblance to the classic Reisling territories of Germany and Alsace - but the result, as with many of Giorgio Badin's wines, is a very pleasant surprise indeed. The Reisling here is harvested late, creating a full wine which holds a beautifully crisp acidity, lemony notes and a herbacious complexity.
