This Pinot Grigio is quite a revelation if you're accustomed to the acres of wine that usually goes by this name here in the UK. The vines are grown on fantastically steep slopes, giving the kind of sunlight exposure that turns into rich, spice notes, along with a tight minerality from the lime-rich soils. The blending of mountain and valley grapes creates a Pinot Grigio with the class and creamy suppleness of the south and the seriousness on the palate of the north.

A little about the producer
The Cortaccia village winery is situated directly beside the Wine Route in the south of Alto Adige. The lower mountainsides on the east of the valley are blessed with a superb microclimate: 2,000 hours of sunshine per year, and cool nights giving structure to match the bold flavours in the wine. Excellent calcerous soils, matched with the climate and mountainous slopes, provide the basis for well balanced, unpretentious expressions of a number of international varietals.
