Article by Johnny Ray, 05 September 2009, What I’ve Enjoyed most this week….
Cantina del Taburno Falanghina, 2008, 13%vol, Italy, (£8.49; www.tengreenbottles.com; 0845 519 2297).
New kid on the block, Tengreenbottles, specialises in Italy and boasts a short but fascinating range, including an exceptional Chianti from San Giusto a Rentenanno. This 100 per cent falanghina from Campania is a delight: fresh, honeyed, creamy, lemony and pineappley, with a long dry finish. It would be perfect with a seafood risotto or salt and pepper squid.

A little about the producer
Cantina del Taburno is an important point of reference for the 300 viticulturists associated with the Agricultural Union of the Province of Benevento, offering technical assistance and directing production towards typical local varietals. Yields per hectare are limited to 8-10 tons and the modern cellar makes it possible for the wines to express all the character of the “terroir”.
